Christian Democrats Back Disabled Workers' Crusade
Scottish Christian Democrats Welcome Cardinal O'Brien's Bar to Abortion Supporting Politicians
In a just society, there can be no second-class citizens. I support theChristian Peoples Alliance in its efforts to help disadvantaged members of
society to survive and thrive, to flourish and reach their potential. Such
social solidarity is the true hallmark of Christian Democracy.

The War in Iraq
Christian Peoples Alliance was the first political party in Britain to publicly oppose the war in Iraq at our conference in October 2002. We said then that a pre-emptive war would be immoral, illegal and unjust and continue to do so. None of the criteria for a just war nor UN criteria were met at the time and have not been met since.
As we warned in 2002, the awesome use of firepower by the Americans and British has led to the indiscriminate mass slaughter of possibly hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians and the premature death of over one hundred British troops.
There was a vote on the Iraq war in The Scottish Parliament. Labour MSP's Conservatives and Liberal Democrats all voted for it. The official "war" was quickly over in 2003. The unofficial "war" has now become civil war between Sunni and Shia Muslims. Christian Peoples Alliance believes that responsibility must be given to a UN peace-keeping force, that all western forces should be withdrawn, an end to contracts favouring US businesses and re-compense paid to Iraq.
Many people believe that Blair lied to us about weapons of mass destruction being held in Iraq. This will be Blair's permanent legacy.
